A charming later edition of this novel, a copy dated from Jisc from other copies illustrated by C. E. Brock. A popular Victorian story for children, originally written by Frances Hodgson Burnett as a serial in 'St. Nicholas Magazine in 1885 and 1886. The first edition in book forma appeared in the same year 1886. Notably, in 1888 Burnett won a lawsuit against E. V. Seebohm over the rights to theatrical adaptations of the work, setting a precedent in copyright law. Illustrated with numerous full page coloured plates and head and tail pieces as well as some in text illustrations by C. E. Brock.
This is a BEAUTIFUL book and I am very torn about selling it. The pages are creamy and such quality paper. The initials at the beginning of each chapter are artful and detailed.
